Hmmm.... When a man is preparing for the priesthood ( like Father John ) he has to enter into an order called the Transitional Deacon... this means he will be a Deacon for a short time before becoming a priest. I on the other hand am a Permanent Deacon...meaning that I am a married man and do not enter into the celibate priesthood like Father John. We have both received the sacrament of Holy Orders but our ministry is different. I am ordained to serve the people on the margins of society. Father John is ordained to the Eucharist ( Holy Communion ) and the Parish.
